Flash floods struck Nepal's Rasuwa district north of Kathmandu and along the border with Tibet on August 26. Casualty reports range from at least eight to at least 17 dead. The inundated area contains a hydropower plant under construction.

Nepal's authorities dispatched rescue and relief teams, police and military personnel to the district. Prime Minister Balendra Shah said the forces were sent after the floods were feared to have swept away villages.

Ten South Koreans are stranded and eight are missing. They are employees of Korea South-East Power Co. and Doosan Enerbility Co. Rescue and relief operations continue at the site.
