Garbage Landslide in Guinea Kills 30, Injures 22

A garbage mound collapsed in Conakry, Guinea, on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The landslide struck shortly after 02:00 local time and killed at least 30 people. Twenty-two others were injured, six seriously.
Seasonal rains triggered the collapse, which buried homes in the Dar-es-Salam area and the Bbessia district.
Authorities deployed search teams to the site following the disaster.
