U.S. Sanctions Two ICC Officials as Supreme Court Rejects Trump Appeal

The United States announced asset freezes and travel bans against International Criminal Court President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye. The total of sanctioned ICC officials reached at least eleven.
An unsigned order issued Monday followed a New York jury verdict finding Donald Trump liable for abuse and defamation. The United States Supreme Court declined to hear his appeal.
Marco Rubio announced the new ICC designations. Trump ordered the court targeted last year. The tribunal remains empowered by more than 120 countries.
Trump received a $5 million civil judgment in the domestic case. The highest court refused to review the decision.
